Recently I had the opportunity to check out Jeff’s Reviews of http://Jeffsreviews.com on one of my favorite recommended products, the Vornado AQS. (The product is also commonly known as the AQS 500)

Besides the manufacturers and designers who made the product, I would argue that I might know the Vornado AQS as well as anyone. Vornado does things a certain way. They put a premium on creating the best possible product with the best available technology before they bring it to market.

Instead of holding something back for a new product later on, the company seeks to take the lead by putting the best it has right now on the table.  Then they look for simplicity in their product line. Do one thing and do it well.

In my opinion, this is generally why the reviews from both customers and independent reviewers are generally so strong. Vornado put the AQS out there and like their other successful air system products, let word of mouth do the work of advertising.

In the numerous articles and blog posts I have provided on the AQS, there are definitely areas that I could explain better. Looking at Jeff’s Review in detail in this article will hopefully touch on aspects that have gone too light on or  maybe just haven’t been clear enough.

To start with Jeff gave the Vornado AQS a very solid 94 out of 100. He gave the highest ratings to ease of use and performance and the lowest ratings to convenience and ease of storage.

We’ve seen plenty of examples of users describing great performance. Jeff makes an important obsersvation regarding the performance you get for the relatively small size and the technology that went into it: “If you force air through a smaller filter you need to have a larger or more forceful fan and that means more noise. Those desktop air purifiers may not take up as much room but they are not going to filter as much air in the same time as the Vornado AQS 500 nor do it as efficiently.”

Jeff notes how the AQS strikes a great balance between the performance of a big hulky air purifier with the lower noise level.

Jeff Notes:

“The simplicity here is the volume of air movement and how they designed the unit to simply have two air filters you drop into the base with the fan unit setting on top for easy use and maintenance. The volume of air being moved is dependent on the size of the fan and the size of the air filter area that is allowing air to pass through the unit.

In the area of convenience where the Vornado AQS rates lower, Jeff noted a lot of dust build-up very fast. I guess on one hand this shows the system is doing a thorough job. On the other hand, you may want to get a couple extra filters.
